In case you missed us at The Holiday Inn Lansdale and Blue Bell Country Club Bridal shows... 

Here's a peek into our display!

I really wanted to show brides some ideas they could use for their own wedding. Our display definitely grabbed the attention it deserved. The paper pinwheels featured above were quite the hit! They are extremely easy to make and add a whimsical touch of fun to your wedding. We displayed them as escort cards but they can be used as place cards, added to bouquets or centerpieces. 

The brides loved all of the beautiful flowers especially the manzanita tree we put together which is perfect for centerpieces and makes a huge impact as an escort table centerpiece; adding that WOW factor before your guests even walk into the reception. We added string of pearls to the branches but you could add crystals or cymbidium orchids for a more glamourous look. 

We also gave out favors to the brides with some chocolates and some wedding tips. You can use burlap bags as favors to put candles, candy, soaps and add your monogram with ribbon to coordinate with your wedding colors. They make these bags in all sizes so you could also use them for hotel gift bags for your out of town guests. 

We had a great time meeting all the brides and can't wait to help them plan their wedding!

I found another interesting meaning for this as well... apparently before the late 19th century, blue wedding gowns were more popular than wearing white. The phrase "Marry in blue, lover be true" was a tradition that was carried on by many back then.

{ Something Borrowed } unique ideas for your wedding day

{ Something Borrowed }

Meaning: 

symbolizes borrowed happiness

This is usually an item from a married friend or family member who is happily married. The purpose is to pass on the happiness to the new bride.


Unique Ideas:

I borrowed my great grandmothers pin for my bouquet
She recently passed prior to my wedding so having something
of hers with me as I walked down the aisle made me feel
like she was close to me.

The most common item used is jewelry

- whether its your grandmothers pearls or 

your best friends diamond bracelet.

While these are common ideas, find unique places to put them. Just because its a necklace doesn't mean you have to wear it as one. -wrap it around your bouquet, or as a bracelet. Add your grandmother's brooch to your gown to add some sparkle.

"Borrow" your parents or in-laws home for your wedding. This is not necessarily something you wear, however its a BIG item to borrow which is filled with memories and lots of happiness!

Another common idea but not seen as often anymore is borrowing your mother's wedding gown as well as a headpiece/veil from her or a friend. The sound of "she wore her mother's wedding gown" just makes me "awww".

don't tell them your using their song. 

Their reaction will be priceless!

This item usually gets brides stuck on what to borrow.

Don't stress over any of the items used to carry on this tradition,

more than likely someone will have something in mind that you can borrow.

If you still don't have anything to borrow by your wedding day, borrow a penny from

a married bridesmaid or MOH and put it in your shoe or clutch. Heads up!..of course!

{ Something New } What does it really mean?

Meaning:

Optimism and hope for the brides new life ahead

This is probably the easiest item to incorporate since most of us will purchase a new dress, new shoes, new jewelry, new lingerie.. the list of all the new things purchased could go on and on. 

However try to think out of the box with this one.

Why not create a family heirloom that your children can use for their "something old" or "something borrowed". 

A fabulous new  tiara or headpiece. It may be something you wanted to buy already however adding some meaning to this purchase will make it even better.

Plant a new hydrangea bush and make your wedding bouquet from it. Practice this one though, if your not a DIYer then ask a friend who may be able to help you out.  Do a trial run first!! 

Jewelry ~ Yes it may be something you had in mind for your "something new" but again picking something unique in style that probably won't go out of style and become a vintage piece in your family.

How about a vintage clutch ~ Your "something new" doesn't necessarily mean brand new from a store. It could be "something new" that was given to you or even a family heirloom. Your "something old" and  "something new" could be the same item! Doesn't that make it easier?

Even know this is an easy item to incorporate, try to give it some real meaning instead of what most do and have their dress be "something new". You can have multiple items that are new !

Each item refers to a good luck token and if the bride carries all four items on her wedding day, she will have a happy marriage. 

Throughout the month of January we will tell you the meaning of each item and some unique ideas to help you carry on the tradition.

Continuity with the Bride's family and the past.

The couple's friends that will hopefully remain close throughout the marriage.

How about wearing your Mother's wedding gown (or close relative) or veil. Or you could even use some fabric from the gown to sew into your own dress, but check with your siblings in case they had plans on actually wearing the dress in one piece.

Country singer Miranda Lambert chose to wear her Mother's gown which fit perfectly for their country style wedding.  

Adding your Grandmother's brooch, fabric from your Mother's gown or a charm from a necklace that has been in your family for years to your bouquet, to keep family members close to your heart as you walk down the aisle.

{ Getting Engaged 101 } + Planners Engagement Story

                     

This time of the year always reminds me of when I got engaged. You just have to hear the story!

In December 2008, while decorating our Christmas tree, my (now) husband wanted to start this tradition of getting Christmas ornaments to represent what happened throughout the year. He started off with 2 cat ornaments to represent our 2 cats we got the first year we were together and a dog ornament to represent the dog we have. There was one more for 2008.... However before I put this next ornament on the tree, I was upset because a month prior we had to put one of the cats down.

The last ornament I put on the tree was a clear ornament that you could fill with whatever you wanted to make your own. My husband had put a small Christmas tree with fake snow in it AND on top of the tree was a ring for the star. 

I put it on the tree (not noticing the ring!) and sat down, completely over putting ornaments on the tree at that point.

My husband asked me to get up to look at the tree with him, and after about 5-10 mins of standing there.... I finally noticed the ring!! I stupid replied "I thought you wanted to buy a new car".. (which he had talked about all year)

Lets just say I ruined his plan and was completely surprised, but at least I said YES! And now we have this wonderful story to tell!!

• Don't ruin the surprise! If you have an idea he's going to propose, accidentally found the receipt in his jeans or your snooping around all the time for a ring..... He's worked hard to make his plan work, so be surprised or at least act surprised!! 
• Let him pick your ring! He will so proud to have picked out a ring that you absolutely love! You can give suggestions but don't buy it together. 
• Tell everyone! Your friends and family might have known he was going to propose but there's nothing like seeing everyone so happy for the both of you!
• Enjoy every moment! Bask in the glory of all the happiness surrounding you!
• Lastly don't panic! It's a lot of work to plan a wedding but we are here to help you every step of the way!!
